Students Takeover FACT, With Their Talent!
Working in partnership with FACT, A class of Knowsley Community College, Creative & Media students are putting on their own expressive show, based upon the current Nam June Paik exhibition, taking place in Tate Liverpool and FACT.
The group of students have been asked to plan, market, produce and perform, a show. This is part of their second unit “Show” which is about learners being able to work “in the field” with media, this unit is about creating a show from the ground up, so it involves the class coming together as a working unit, this will allow them to work as a team to put on the best show possible, two overall project mangers (chosen by the students for the students) oversee the whole process of the team. Each member is asked to present a personal idea that can be created to display and at the same time, help taking part of the marketing responsibility, making use of all types of medium to present the show, such as radio, internet, press, newsletters and word of mouth. Not only are the students being asked to present the show but as part of their work write about the process and workings involved, such as looking at locations, idea development, researching types of shows and looking at the units inspiration “Nam June Paik”.

The show is called E.O.T Live! An interesting and new show, that is a once in a life time experience.
E.O.T Live! Will be displaying art works/installations from some of upcoming minds of this generation.
Don’t miss your chance to see this one-time-only show, it is only happening once!
An indication of what you will be able to see follows:

“The Steel Man Project” by Chris Leech
“The Steel Man Project” is an original piece of music that has been composed by the artist, it is a guitar only piece of music.
The installation will be a live performance/projection. Chris will be playing the piece live every hour and half past the hour.
On the wall will be a projection of the sound waves, produced by playing. This is designed to give the effect of being able to “see sound”.
This location of this piece is as of yet unconfirmed.
“Paper Dress” by Rachael Bradley
This is a sculpture, it is a mannequin wearing a dress made out of a paper image, the images are of a person wearing a paper dress made of newspaper. It is essentially a dress within a dress. This concept was inspired by Nam June Paik’s, TV’s inside TV’s.
This piece will be exhibited in an undisclosed location in FACT as a stand alone sculpture
Unnamed by Same Bates
This yet to be named piece is a video, this will be played on a screen somewhere in FACT, The video is of Sam applying her daily makeup, to represent repartition in daily routine. The video will be the same short clip on loop, this is based on Nam June Paik’s video of someone doing and undoing a button on a coat. This shows that simplicity and repetition can be effective and shows the realism of repartition in our lives.
These are just a 3 of the 13 pieces that will be on display, each piece will provide its own original take on a piece by Nam June Paik, showing his influences through unique works.
One of the main aspects of the show is diversity, as Name June Paik created a wide range of art works, these are currently available to view in FACT and Tate Liverpool, Name June, has created nearly everything you could imagine. From music scores to installations, to videos, to TV people!
If you’re a fan of art, or maybe you just want to investigate new talent, I strongly recommend coming to visit, E.O.T Live! Feb 9th, 1:00pm – 4:00pm. I

“For me, E.O.T Live! Is a chance not only a chance to display a piece of my own music, but add a unique twist to it that changes it from a piece of music into an somewhat artistic installation. E.O.T Live! I think could be the show of a lifetime, I’m a honoured that I have been given the chance to present a piece of my work, (and the overall show) at FACT, which is a fantastic location to be allowed to display in. I think the wonderful range of art lined up for the show and the fantastic locations will really complement each other, to make a really, very good art experience.”
